The Arizona desert produces breathtaking sunrises virtually year round but capturing the stars and sun together shows the Lost Dutchman State Park pass from evening to morning.

Double Arches is an iconic landmark within Arches National Park that brings memories of those that visited as a child or checked off the park on their bucket list. In the winter of 2018 while the park was quiet my significant other and I had the fortune to be the only people at this iconic location which allowed me to capture this amazing image without restrictions.

Alta, Utah sits at 8,560 feet of elevation and rises above the valley that holds Salt Lake City. At this point it provides enough distance from the largest metropolitan area in Utah to give clear skies and unobstructed views of the Milky way.

Composition: Placed under the towering arch provided a unique perspective dividing the landscape left and right and contrasted the red stone of the geology against the winter snow.
Corona Arch sits outside of the national park system but provides an unrestricted hike to visit an enormous natural structure that steals your imagination.

The winter in the Grand Canyon puts the sunrise at an angle that lights up the deep canyon completely differently than the summer months. This image of a new day beginning over one of Americas most iconic landmarks has a mainstay on my wall.
